About

We are a marine conservation grassroots organization founded in 2022, dedicated to protecting and restoring the ocean.

As a young organization we took part in significant conservation achievements, such as establishing Peninsula Mitre Provincial Park and banning the open-net salmon farming industry in the province of Tierra del Fuego, resulting in the creation of The Global Salmon Farming Resistance. Today, we continue to drive projects forward with the same passion and conviction that brought us together from the start.

We seek to develop science-based conservation initiatives that drive the creation of public policies, community stewardship, strategic communication, and activism, in collaboration with diverse organizations and communities.

Por el Mar

When planning a marine conservation project, we define our overarching goal and then chart the path we will follow to achieve it. We trust the process, adapt to changing weather, and steer forward together as a team. We share the commitment to protect the ocean, a task as challenging as it is rewarding, and in this context, we know that every breakthrough counts.

These are some of the milestones we have crossed so far and the goals we have reached in collaboration with our partners, supporters, and local communities:

Advocated for and achieved the ban on open-net salmon farming in Tierra del Fuego, Antártida e Islas del Atlántico Sur, Argentina.

Participated in the creation of Península Mitre Provincial Park in Tierra del Fuego, Argentina.

Declaration of Patagonia’s kelp forests as a matter of national interest by the National Parks Administration and COFEMA (Federal Council for the Environment).

Establishment of Monte León Marine Protected Area.

Protection of 36% of the kelp forest ecosystem in Argentina.

Thanks to the information provided by Kelpwatch and in collaboration with researchers from Stanford (Hopkins Marine Station) and Mas Kelp, we created maps that show the habitat distribution of Macrocystis pyrifera forests, their persistence, and the degree of protection within Marine Protected Areas in Argentina.
