Conservation

Conservation can often seem like an abstract concept, particularly in marine environments. However, it becomes tangible through direct actions that support ecological recovery while fostering local stewardship and community engagement.

Engaging local communities in conservation efforts not only helps protect marine biodiversity but also instills a sense of ownership and responsibility in those who live closest to these environments. Local stewardship involves empowering communities to lead the necessary changes toward more sustainable and equitable conservation outcomes.

Conservation in Action

Regenerative Ocean Farming

Regenerative Ocean Farming - Por el Mar

Our vision is a thriving community alongside a healthy kelp forest ecosystem.

To achieve this, we are advocating for public policies that protect kelp forests and regulate wild kelp extraction. This goal also involves exploring low-impact economic practices for coastal communities to foster social and environmental well-being. In collaboration with strategic partners and guided by the concept of regenerative ocean farming, we are creating Argentina's first pilot project for ocean restoration and regenerative farming. Our aim is to demonstrate that small- to medium-scale ocean farming is not only feasible but can also strengthen local economies and safeguard biodiversity.

Marine Protected Areas (MPAs)

Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) - Por el Mar

Through research and science, we generate new layers of knowledge that enable us to design and implement the best conservation strategies, such as the creation of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs).

Shark Protection

Shark Protection - Por el Mar

Our work supports healthier, resilient ocean ecosystems.

Our initiative, 'Guardians of the Sea,' champions the conservation of two endangered shark species in the Patagonian Sea by advocating for protective laws and enhancing our understanding of shark populations.
